CAITHNESS MXC RND 1 ON 5/4/09

CAITHNESS MOTOX CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP Round 1 on 05/04/09
FROM THE RAVENSHILL CIRCUIT, THURSO

As the competitors arrived @ Ravenshill, it was quite overcast and offering to rain, however this did not last long. The breeze got up, cleared the rain clouds away and allowed a full days racing to proceed under constantly drying conditions..
Practice got under way with rather tricky conditions underfoot, this did not deter anyone in the slightest as all the classes got out there and completed there sessions, even the Autos and the Junior Quads were going for it, and that was just in practice.

Conditions were improving as the bikes lined up for the first Adult race.
And they were away with Scott Gulloch taking an early lead, chased hard by Kyle Mackie,
Kyle took the lead on lap 2 and never looked back, won by a mile.

He showed up the rest of the field by repeating this performance in race 2 and 3 leaving Mark Sutherland to settle for three second placings, still a very good result.
Iain Nicolson put in 3 steady rides to secure 3rd overall.

There was a good turnout of Auto Riders , resulting in some very close racing with three race wins going to Troy Anderson.

Things might have been different in race 2 as Liam Mackay took the lead on lap 5 and held onto it until the last lap where Troy Anderson squeezed thru for the Race win.

Jak Murray had a good day, netting 3rd overall after Liam failed to make the last race due to machine problems..

The 65cc class saw Daniel Kirk dominate proceedings with 3 race wins , out front the whole time, well done young man. Second place went to Ewan gordon with 3 consistant second placings, 3rd spot went to Lachlan Jardine.

Hats off to these Young riders, as conditions for the small wheeled bikes were quite tricky early on.

The small wheel 85cc class went to Morgan Robertson ahead of Liam McMillan who was forced to retire later in the day with steam blowing out of his radiater, the joys of bike racing.

The big wheel 85cc class saw Kyle Angus of Thurso make the day well worth while with 2 race wins and a third, securing overall victory ahead of Ricky Cormack who had an excellent win in race 1.

Third place went to Lewis Kirk, virtue of a 2nd and 2 thirds. Good racing was had by all. Well done lads.

.
The 125/250’s yet again saw class domination from Jake Anderson of Thurso on his YZ125. 3 starts, 3 wins. 2nd overall went to Ross Shaw out on his RMZ250 for the first time. Aaron Wilson, unfortunately had to retire. C’mon guys n galls we need some more entrys in this group, get yersell along to the next meeting and don’t miss out on an excellent circuit and top notch racing.

The 100cc Quad Racing was most entertaining , 3 race wins to Jack Duffy, closely followed home in each race by Ben Mackenzie with Danny Reid finishing hard behind him. Danny may have been on a smaller machine, but this did not cramp his style and determination as he chased the others, well done.
